Monthly
- Dishwasher: clean the filter; check rinse aid (level 3–4 for our water).
- Washer: run Tub Clean when tCL appears; wipe the door boot; leave the door ajar.
- Dryer: wash the lint filter with soap and water.
- Refrigerator: check door gaskets for food and tears; empty the ice bucket if cubes clump.
Every 3–6 months
- Refrigerator water filter (3–4 months with Las Vegas hard water).
- Washer drain pump filter (front load and WashTower).
- Dishwasher cleaner cycle.
- Range: clean gas burner caps and ports; check that caps sit flat.
Before summer (May)
- Refrigerator condenser: unplug, remove the lower rear cover and vacuum the coil and fan. This is the most important Las Vegas task — summer heat is when weak condensers fail.
- Garage refrigerators: make sure there is airflow around the unit; consider moving it inside for the hottest months.
- Surge protection: monsoon storms (July–September) damage control boards. Use quality surge protectors where practical.
Yearly
- Dryer vent: clean the full run to the outside, especially long rooftop vents (d80–d95 codes are your warning).
- Washer hoses: check for bulges and cracks; replace every 5 years.
- Refrigerator: check the water supply line and valve behind the unit for drips.
