How LG top loaders fail
LG top load washers use a direct-drive motor under the tub with a clutch (shift) actuator that switches between agitating and spinning. When the actuator sticks, the washer may agitate but not spin, show E6, or click and stop. A worn set of suspension rods lets the tub bang against the cabinet and triggers UE. Both are routine repairs.

Totals include parts, labor and the $75 service call. Ranges reflect a typical repair and do not include extra work caused by difficult access — for example a built-in or tightly installed appliance, removing trim, cabinetry or other appliances, or additional disassembly and reassembly of the appliance itself. The final price also depends on the supplier's current part price, which changes with market and import conditions. Your exact price is quoted in writing after diagnosis, before any work starts. 90-day labor warranty; 1-year manufacturer warranty on parts.

LG top load washer questions
How do I fix the dL error on my LG top load washer?
dL means the lid did not lock. Make sure nothing is caught under the lid and close it firmly. If dL persists, the lid lock assembly or its wiring has failed. See LG washer lid or door will not lock.
Why does my LG top load washer say UE?
UE means the washer cannot balance the load. Redistribute heavy items, avoid washing a single bulky item, and check that the washer is level. If it happens on every load, the suspension rods are likely worn.
How do I reset my LG top load washer?
Unplug it for 5 minutes, plug it back in and run a Rinse+Spin cycle. If the same code returns, there is a real fault to diagnose.
Is it worth repairing an LG top load washer?
Most repairs cost $180 to $370 — usually much less than a new washer. We will tell you if the tub or drive problems on an older unit make replacement the better choice.
