Why it matters
A restricted vent wastes energy, wears the dryer out and is a leading cause of dryer fires. LG's guidance for d90 and d95 is clear: do not use the dryer until the vent is cleaned or repaired.
Clean the vent
- Lint filter — clean every load; wash it with soap and water monthly (fabric-softener film blocks airflow).
- Lint duct inside the dryer — vacuum the filter slot with a long nozzle.
- Duct behind the dryer — replace crushed foil duct with rigid or semi-rigid metal, as short and straight as possible.
- The full run — use a vent-cleaning brush kit from both ends. Rooftop vents in Las Vegas two-story homes often need a professional vent cleaner.
- Outside hood — the flap must open freely; remove bird nests and lint.
- Run the Flow Sense / installation check with a cold dryer to clear the code.
If the vent is clean
- No warm air at the duct: see LG dryer not heating.
- Dryer stops while clothes are still damp: clean the moisture sensor bars inside the drum with rubbing alcohol (fabric softener coats them).
- Heat but slow: the blower wheel may be clogged or damaged.
When to call
Slow drying with a clean vent, tE codes, or no heat. See LG dryer repair.
Questions
What does d90 mean on my LG dryer?
The exhaust is about 90% restricted. Stop using the dryer until the vent is cleaned from the dryer to the outside.
How often should I clean my dryer vent in Las Vegas?
At least once a year, and more often for long rooftop runs, large families or homes with pets.
