Vent (Flow Sense) codes
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| d80 | Exhaust duct about 80% restricted | Clean the lint filter, the duct behind the dryer and the vent to the outside hood. The number is roughly the percentage of airflow blocked. |
| d85 | Exhaust duct about 85% restricted | Same as d80 — clean the full vent run. Long dry times are normal until you do. |
| d90 | Exhaust duct about 90% restricted | Stop using the dryer until the vent is cleaned. Severe restriction is a fire hazard. |
| d95 | Exhaust duct about 95% restricted | Do not use the dryer. Clean or repair the vent; check for crushed flex duct behind the dryer and a stuck outside flap. |
| HS | Humidity sensor error — or Flow Sense test run while the dryer was still warm | Run the installation check / Flow Sense test only when the dryer is cold. If HS returns cold, the sensor needs service. |
Heat and temperature codes
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| tE1 | Thermistor error — open or shorted sensor, or large difference between real and sensed temperature | Thermistor or harness; call for repair. |
| tE2 | Thermistor out of range (meaning differs on heat pump models) | Very cold air from a long vent can trigger it on standard models; otherwise a sensor fault. |
| tE3 | Thermistor out of range or too hot — heater not working because a thermostat tripped or voltage is abnormal | On electric models check the 240 V double breaker (one half tripped = drum turns, no heat). Clean the vent; then heater circuit, high-limit or element. |
| tE4 | Steam generator thermistor error | Call for repair. |
| tE5 – tE7 | Heat pump dryer thermistor errors (compressor inlet / outlet, evaporator inlet) | Call for repair. |
| gAS / 9A5 | Gas dryer not heating — no temperature rise | Make sure the gas valve behind the dryer is on. Then igniter, flame sensor or gas valve coils. |
| F1 | Drum temperature too high — not enough airflow (condensing / heat pump) | Clean the lint filter; on condenser models remove and rinse the condenser. |
Start, door and power codes
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| dE | Door not closed — door switch open | Close the door firmly; if it persists the door switch has failed. |
| dE2 | Door not locked (models with a door lock) | Door lock switch or wiring. |
| F0 | Filter not inserted | Install the lint filter fully; if it is in place, the filter's magnet reed switch is at fault. |
| IF | Install filter — lint filter missing | Same as F0. |
| PS / nP / PF | Supply voltage not correct or power was interrupted | Check the outlet and breaker. Electric dryers need 240 V; condensing dryers show tE3 instantly on a 120 V circuit. |
| EE | EEPROM (control memory) error | Main board replacement. |
| nE / nF / nC / nU | Wi-Fi / NFC module messages in test mode | Drying is not affected. |
Steam codes
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Add Water | Steam feeder is empty or drawer not closed | Fill the steam feeder to the MAX line with tap water (not distilled) and close the drawer. |
| E1 | Steam module overheating (above about 320 °F) | Steam generator replacement. |
| E3 | No water supply for steam | Check the inlet hose and valve for the steam supply. |
| E4 | Steam heating — generator did not reach temperature in time | Check the steam generator wiring; replace generator if needed. |
| E5 | Steam pump error (test mode) | Pump or harness; call for repair. |
Heat pump and condensing dryer codes
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| AE | Compressor error (heat pump models) | Call for repair. |
| LE1 | Tub/blower motor locked — often a dryer sheet in the blower | Call for repair. |
| LE2 | Drum motor low current (condensing) or compressor error (heat pump) | Clean the lint filter; then call. |
| LE3 | Dry fan restarted three times without success (heat pump) | Call for repair. |
| OE / DRN / E13 | Drain pump error — condensate water not dropping | Check the drain hose for kinks; clean lint from the pump. |
Not error codes
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| CL | Child lock is on | Press and hold the Child Lock button for 3 seconds. |
| big / bi9 | Steam Fresh large-load setting | Normal. |
| UP | ThinQ feature update available | Update in the LG ThinQ app. |
When to call
Clean the vent first for any d-code or slow drying. tE codes after a vent cleaning, gAS, dE that will not clear, and all heat pump codes need a technician. See LG dryer repair — $75 service call, credited toward the repair.
LG dryer error code questions
What does d90 mean on my LG dryer?
The exhaust vent is about 90% restricted. The dryer measured very low airflow through the duct. Clean the lint filter, the duct behind the dryer and the full vent run to the outside before using it again.
How do I clear the d80 code on an LG dryer?
Clean the vent, then run the installation check or Flow Sense test with a cold dryer. The code clears once the dryer measures normal airflow.
Why does my LG dryer show tE3?
The heater is not working because a thermostat tripped from overheating or the supply voltage is wrong. Check both halves of the 240 V breaker and clean the vent, then call if it returns.
