LG electric range burner not working or stuck on high

When one radiant burner on an LG electric range stays cold, the element or its control (infinite) switch has failed. A burner that glows red on every setting has a switch with welded contacts. If several burners and the oven fail together, check the 240 V breaker. Typical repair: $180 to $360.

Safe checks

  1. Several zones dead? Reset the double breaker.
  2. One zone dead: watch it at high — any glow at all? A partial glow means a broken coil inside the element.
  3. Stuck on high: turn it off at the knob; if it still glows, turn off the breaker.

When to call

Any element that will not heat or will not turn down. A switch stuck on high is a fire risk — use the breaker until it is fixed. See LG range repair or LG cooktop repair.
