Important: older models use different meanings
On some older LG electric ranges (LRE3012, LRE30451, LRE30453, LRE30757 and a few others) and gas ranges (LRG3021, LRG3091, LRG3093, LRG3095, LRG3097), LG assigned different meanings to the low F-numbers — for example F1 is a keypad error, F2 a door lock error, F9 "oven too hot" and F11 "oven not heating" on those models. The tables below follow the meanings used on most current LG ranges. When in doubt, a technician confirms the meaning for your exact model.
Hidden codes
LG ranges and ovens usually do not display stored error codes on their own. On many models a technician recalls them in test mode — for example by holding 4 and 6 on the keypad with the oven selector off, pressing Bake and Broil together, or a +, –, Oven Light sequence, depending on the model. We read the code history during every range diagnosis.
Oven codes
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| F1 | Upper (or single) oven temperature sensor error — no signal from the sensor | Sensor or its connection at the main board. Call for repair. |
| F2 | Upper oven temperature sensor error | Sensor or wiring. Call for repair. |
| F3 | Touch pad (keypad) error — a key stuck or no key input for 60 seconds | Clean the keypad; disconnect power 5 minutes. Keypad or main board if it returns. |
| F4 | Lower oven temperature sensor error | Sensor or wiring. |
| F5 | Lower oven temperature sensor error (on LRE30757: warming drawer sensor shorted) | Sensor or wiring. |
| F6 | Upper oven too hot — over 650 °F for over two minutes outside self-clean | Turn the oven off. Sensor or a stuck relay on the main board; call. |
| F7 | Upper convection fan error — fan not detected for over a minute | Convection fan motor or harness. |
| F8 | Upper oven meat probe error | Probe or probe jack; try without the probe. |
| F9 | No heat — upper oven | Electric: bake element, relay, or one leg of the 240 V breaker. Gas: oven igniter or gas valve. |
| F10 | Door locking system failure — upper oven (self-clean) | Door lock motor or switch. |
| F11 | Communication error between boards | Wiring or board; call for repair. |
| F16 | Lower oven too hot — over 650 °F | Turn off; sensor or stuck relay. |
| F17 | Lower convection fan error | Fan motor or harness. |
| F18 | Lower oven meat probe error | Probe or jack. |
| F19 | No heat — lower oven: temperature did not rise 10 °F within 5 minutes | Electric: missing 240 V leg, element. Gas: igniter, valve. |
| F20 | Door locking system failure — lower oven | Door lock motor or switch. |
| F21 – F25 | Steam sensor open or shorted (right/left) | Steam thermistor or wiring. |
| F27 | Cooling fan stalled or locked during self-clean | Cooling fan motor or harness. |
| F42 | Over-voltage — house voltage too high | Have an electrician check the supply. |
| F51 / F52 | Griddle sensor open / shorted | Griddle sensor. |
| F56 | Griddle too hot — over 650 °F | Sensor or griddle gas valve relay. |
| F59 | Griddle not heating | Gas valve voltage, relay or sensor. |
| F62 / F69 | Sous vide sensor error / sous vide not heating | Sensor, heater or thermostat. |
Induction cooktop section codes
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| CF1 – CF4 | Induction burner temperature sensor errors (left front, left rear, right front, right rear) | Zone sensor or 5 V supply from the cooktop board. |
| CF5 / CF6 | Left / right inverter board IGBT failure | Inverter board replacement. |
| CF7 / CF8 | Communication error between cooktop main board and left / right inverter board (burner may blink 3 times) | Harness connection or board. |
| CF9 | Flex zone top sensor open or shorted | Sensor. |
| CFA | Over-current | Inverter board. |
| CFC | Over-voltage | Have an electrician check the supply. |
| CFE / CFF | Blower fan / box fan error | Fan motor (12 V DC) or harness. |
| F33 / F34 | Front / rear induction burner temperature sensor error | Zone sensor or supply voltage. |
| F36 | Inverter board IGBT error | Inverter board. |
| F38 | Communication error, cooktop main board to inverter board | Harness or board. |
| F45 / F46 | Box fan / induction blower fan error | Fan motor or harness. |
Not error codes
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| HS | Hot surface — the cooktop is above about 150 °F | Normal. If HS stays on with a cold cooktop, the hot-surface switch is stuck. |
| PF | Power failure — power was interrupted | Press ON/OFF (or Clear/Off) and reset the clock. |
| SB | Sabbath mode is on | Exit Sabbath mode as described in your manual. |
When to call
F6 and F16 (too hot): turn the oven off and do not use it until checked. Any no-heat, sensor, door-lock or communication code that returns after a 5-minute power reset needs a technician. If you smell gas, leave and call Southwest Gas first. See LG range and oven repair.
LG range error code questions
What does F9 mean on an LG oven?
On most current LG ranges, F9 means the upper oven is not heating. On electric ranges check the 240 V breaker first, then the bake element; on gas ranges the oven igniter is the usual cause. On a few older models F9 means "oven too hot," so the exact model matters.
How do I clear an F-code on my LG range?
Turn off the range's breaker for 5 minutes and restore power. If the code returns, the part it points to has a real fault.
Why does my LG range show F3?
F3 is a keypad error — a key reads as stuck or the board stopped receiving keypad signals. Cleaning the keypad and a power reset can clear it; otherwise the touch panel or main board needs service.
