LG oven temperature wrong — too hot, too cold or uneven

If an LG oven bakes consistently 15–35 °F off, use the built-in oven temperature adjustment in Settings. Bigger or changing errors point to the oven temperature sensor, a weak gas igniter, a failing bake element or a convection fan problem. F6/F16 (too hot) means turn the oven off and call.

Test it first

Put an oven thermometer on the center rack, preheat to 350 °F and read it after 20 minutes, then every 5 minutes for 20 minutes. Ovens cycle about ±25 °F around the setting; average the readings.

Calibrate

Most LG ranges let you offset the oven temperature in Settings (or by holding Bake on older models — see your manual), typically in 5 °F steps up to ±35 °F.

When it is a part

  • Way off, or getting worse: sensor. LG oven sensors read about 1,100 ohms at room temperature.
  • Gas oven slow and cool: weak igniter.
  • Electric oven with dark bottoms and pale tops (or the reverse): bake or broil element.
  • Uneven in convection mode: fan motor (F7 / F17).
  • F6 or F16: oven too hot — turn it off and do not use it.
