LG washer not filling (IE error)

IE means not enough water entered the LG washer in time. Check that both faucets are fully open, the hoses are not kinked and the inlet screens are not clogged with Las Vegas hard-water scale. If water supply is fine, the water inlet valve or pressure sensor has failed — typically $180 to $300.

Safe checks

  1. Open both faucets fully.
  2. Pull the washer out and straighten the hoses.
  3. Turn off the faucets, unscrew the hoses at the washer and clean the small mesh screens inside the inlet ports with needle-nose pliers and a brush. Scale is common in Las Vegas.
  4. Check pressure at another faucet; after water main work, sediment can clog screens.

When to call

IE with strong water at the hoses, a valve that hums but passes no water, or a washer that fills nonstop (FE — unplug it). See LG washer repair.

Questions

How do I fix IE on my LG washer?

Open the faucets fully, straighten the hoses and clean the inlet screens. If IE returns, the water inlet valve has likely failed.
