Letter codes
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| d0 | A key was touched for more than 8 seconds — food, water or an object on the controls, or a failed display board | Wipe the control area dry, remove objects, restart. Display board if it returns. |
| E1 | Communication error between the main board and the key/LED board | Wiring or connectors; call for repair. |
| F0 | IGBT arm short — fan not running or inverter board fault | Check that the cooling vents under the cooktop are clear; otherwise fan or inverter board. |
| F1 | Left front zone sensor error | Zone sensor open or shorted. |
| F2 | Left rear zone sensor error | Zone sensor open or shorted. |
| F3 | Right front zone sensor error | Zone sensor open or shorted. |
| F4 | Right rear zone sensor error | Zone sensor open or shorted. |
| F5 | Left inverter board IGBT sensor open or shorted | Inverter board. |
| F7 | Communication error — main board to left inverter board | EMI board, thermal fuse connection or harness. |
| F8 | Communication error — main board to right inverter board | EMI board, thermal fuse connection or harness. |
| F9 | Center sensor error | Center zone sensor open or shorted. |
| FC | IGBT arm short — fan not running or inverter board fault | Cooling fan or inverter board. |
| FE | Fan lock — cooling fan stuck | Clear anything blocking airflow under the cooktop. If the fan gets 12 V and does not run, replace the fan; if no voltage, the inverter board. |
Blinking LED codes (some induction models)
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 1 blink | Thermistor or control micro-processor issue | Turn the cooktop off and on; call if it persists. |
| 2 blinks | Thermistor TH2 open or shorted | Turn off and on; call if it persists. |
| 3 blinks | Thermistor TH3 open or shorted | Turn off and on; call if it persists. |
| 4 blinks | Water, metal or food on the controls for an extended time, or a key held more than 10 seconds | Clean the surface and control area, press Power to clear. |
| 5 blinks | Display fault | Check display board connection; replace the board if needed. |
| 6 blinks | Low voltage detected | Check the circuit breaker and supply voltage; call an electrician if low. |
Not error codes
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| PEt | Pet Safe mode — controls locked so pets cannot turn on the cooktop | Press LOCK + TURBO together to turn it on or off (on models with these keys). |
When to call
Sensor codes (F1–F4, F9), inverter codes (F0, F5, FC), communication codes (E1, F7, F8) and FE that returns after clearing the vents need a technician. See LG cooktop repair. For induction cooktop sections of LG ranges, see LG range codes.
LG cooktop error code questions
Why does my LG induction cooktop show FE?
The cooling fan under the glass is stuck or not spinning. Make sure nothing in the drawer or cabinet blocks the vents, then restart. If FE returns, the fan or inverter board needs service.
What does 4 blinks mean on an LG cooktop?
Water, metal or food has been on the control area too long, or a key was held more than 10 seconds. Clean and dry the controls and press Power.
What is PEt on an LG cooktop?
Pet Safe mode, a lock that prevents pets from turning the cooktop on. On models with LOCK and TURBO keys, press both together to switch it off.
